Getting started

How to start

You make the first contact — through this website, by phone or by text message. It can be the hardest step, and you or your partner will know when the time is right.

  1. 1

    The initial consultation

Our first step is for you to sign our working contract. We then always begin with an initial 50-minute consultation, in which the needs of everyone are assessed and the appropriate method and direction of therapy is agreed. View the counselling contract.

  2. 2

    Understand patterns

History and context form the basis from which we work. Within the psychosexual model we move into history-taking, to understand all the influences that could be bearing down on your presenting problem. Working with an individual or a couple, we begin to form a framework, moving from past and present towards the future you're aiming for. For wellbeing workshops, the client decides the needs of their organisation, and this becomes the foundation for the work.

  3. 3

    Growth

All therapy is client-led, and that depends on commitment, boundaries, creativity, the therapeutic alliance, feeling safe, confidentiality and strong ethical frameworks. If you feel I am the person to help and to understand you, this is where your growth generates from.

  4. 4

    Creativity

The therapy process depends on the client's needs and on what resonates with everyone. I am trained in several modalities and work on a case-by-case basis — there is no one size fits all. If I am doing my job, I will find the key that helps you unlock your presenting problem.

  5. 5

    Empowerment

We will have regular check-ins throughout our therapeutic relationship, so the whole process stays transparent and we can reflect together on how different ways of working are landing with you. The client is the expert; I am only providing the tools to enable your process.

  6. 6

    The door is always open

Clients can book follow-up appointments or return to me months or years later. My therapeutic support will always remain available if needed.
